Making his opening remark on the launch of this partnership, Dr Chung Siu Leung, the eCentre Director of OUHK said “It is our pleasure to have Informatics Global Campus as our partner in our E-learning programmes. Both institutions share a common vision to bring strong innovative offering to the adult learners in this part of the world. This marks the beginning of our collaboration and I hope that there will be more opportunities for us to work together in the future.”

Master of Laws in Chinese Business Law
The Masters Degree programme in Chinese Business Law will be the first-of-its-kind in Singapore. The course would be conducted through the Group’s proprietary e-learning platform, PurpleTrain, and is targeted at professionals and managers that are dealing with the Chinese business environment. The flexible 12-module programme is aimed at entrepreneurs, business managers and professionals who need greater depth in understanding the legal framework in China.

“A mastery of legal framework can be of great relevance to anyone doing business or working in China. This programme can be an integral part of the process of learning about China. Its flexible online nature also fits well into the business travel and working schedules individuals.” Dr Paul Goh, Managing Director of Informatics Global Campus Pte Ltd said.

Certificate in Basic Chinese for Non-Chinese Speakers
In addition to the course in Chinese Business Law, IGC will also be working with OUHK to offer a basic Chinese language course targeted at Non-Chinese speakers. A unique feature of this course is that the initial phases of the course modules will be taught in English to facilitate easier understanding. As students get more familiar with the Chinese language, the medium of teaching will transit to Chinese.

Greater Demand and Relevance of these new courses
As China grows in importance and play a greater role in the global economy, the need to understand how the Chinese operates and their legal boundaries are of significant importance. Hence, the Group believes the demand for such courses will continue to grow and it is well poised to meet these needs through its innovative platform.

“This is a first for IGC to offer a law course as well as a language course. Traditionally, we have been conducting business and IT courses through our e-learning portal. Going forward, we will continue to offer interesting and in-demand courses in line with the market needs.”Dr Paul Goh added.

A First Partnership for OUHK in Singapore
This is the first time that OUHK is working with a Singapore partner to offer such courses in Singapore. OUHK had been running both courses with much success and has been looking to expand its course offerings beyond the Hong Kong market.

Commenting on this new partnership, Mr Patrick Ho, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of Informatics Education Ltd said: “We are honoured to be working with such a well-known education provider in Hong Kong. The future of the education market requires constant innovation and partnership.
